Disk filters can operate in gravitational or pressurized principle. Disks are covered with a media or metal screen and drowned in slurry tank. Disk filters are designed to pass the liquid phase to the center of tank through the screens, and the solid phase remained on the screens.
These equipments have high filtration rate. Disk filters are offered for slurries that are easy to separate liquid and solid phase. The remaining solids are discharged with a reverse flow. The critical point is to seal the disk surface in a way that the liquid and solid phase can’t mix again.
